Eating out with teachers
It was a laid back day at work today. Uchida sensei and I went out to a kaitenzushi place for lunch. The brass band competed in a prefectural wide competition a couple of days ago, and I found out that they were awarded the gold medal! So they will go on to compete in the Kyushu competition.
Later on in the afternoon, we got a call at school with the outcome of the final kendo match that was held in Tokyo today. Seiryo's student finished no 1! That makes her the best female kendo player in Japan! As soon as we received the call, all the teachers stood up and started clapping. It's nice how the teachers really back up the students in everything they do.
I left school a little early, in order to shop around for a yukatta (a summer kimono). I discovered they range anywhere from $30 to $200 or more.
I found a really beautiful one at Jusco, but was running a little late. I rushed back to Isahaya where Shimasaki sensei, Kitano sensei (my supervisor this year), Fukuda sensei (my supervisor during my first year in Japan) and I met for dinner.
By the time we finished, the shops were all closed. I'll try to find a yukatta tomorrow that I can wear to my town's festival tomorrow night.
