Close encounter with a mukade (poisonous centipede)
I dont think I've ever jumped out of the shower that fast in my life.
It climbed up near the knob, so I couldn’t turn off the water.
I didn’t know how to kill it. I’ve never had to kill a mukade before. I was afraid of it moving away, because then it would be somewhere in my bath, and I don’t know where...maybe coming out when I least expect it....*shudder*
I guess it felt comfortable by the knob because it hung around the knob for the longest time. Over the next hour, while getting advice from people on what I should do, I kept checking on it to make sure I knew where it was. If it had wandered out of the bath, I don’t think I could have ever slept in my apartment again.
A friend said I should try to kill it. I finally got the courage to try, went back to the bathroom, only to find that it was not there anymore!!!
I panicked.
But then I found it UNDER the knob.
How to kill it when it's UNDER the knob?....
A friend suggested using chopsticks to get it out in the open. These things move fast, there's no way I was going to poke it with chopsticks and have it possibly drop to the ground and run towards me.

Using compressed air while holding it upside down is very dangerous, so I thought I would give it a try. Armed with my can of compressed air, I went back to check on the mukade in the bath.
He was still there.
Making sure I could easily make a run for it should the thing fall to the ground and start running towards me, I fired away.
I didn’t stop till half of the can was used.
It worked!!!!
Then using chopsticks, I detached it from the frozen knob and flushed it down the toilet.
I dont ever want to see another one of those things again!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll sleep much better knowing it's dead.

you are SO brave. that was really a narrow escape...my, my, that is one huge, mean and extremely deadly centipede you so fearlessly overcame against all odds.

im sorry to have been so sarcastic, that's one of the reasons why i know that good psychiatrist. It's just that i have spent a lot of my time in Africa where one sees critters on a daily basis and people don't even have washing machines! But i would have probably noticed this one too if i lived in sterile Japan.
Must say though that i appreciate the primitiveness of japanese washing machines, i havent found any that wash at high temperatures. It surprised me in such a high tech country. I did see one washing machine for sneakers though. That was a first.
