Before I got a chance to ask Kitano sensei about going to Unzen, she said that Okubo sensei (the English teacher from Bunko) had called yesterday evening to ask if I could join the Bunko school on the trip. After speaking with Motomura sensei (head of the English department) and Fukuda sensei (usually more up with how things are done at this school), Kitano sensei said they decided that it would be difficult to arrange because the paperwork has already been submitted for the business trip.
I was disappointed to hear the news…when I tried to get more information about whether it’s still possible to change, Kitano sensei said ‘it’s almost impossible’. 'Almost' impossible? Does that mean that maybe it just might be possible?...They thought it would be too much trouble to ask the secretary’s office to make changes, that it would probably be very complicated. I didn’t want to be rude or pushy, but it seemed like maybe I might be able to go if I pushed a little further…
She asked the secretary’s office, and they said ‘no problem!’. So I can go! Woohoo!
Sometimes, people’s unwillingness to inconvenience others is a bit of pain.
There’s supposed to be a typhoon headed this way sometime next week. You never know just how bad it will be until it arrives though. There’s not much that can be done about it now, other than reinforcing the windows by taping them up.
